Vacuum cleaner sales on the rise

16/07/2008
Sales of vacuum cleaners in the UK are growing rapidly, according to a new study.

Figures from GfK Retail and Technology (GfK) showed an estimated 6.5 million vacuum cleaners were sold in Britain over the past 12 months - amounting to around £520m being spent on these items during this time.

It was noted that online sales accounted for around £40 million of the overall figure and bagless cylinder models had seen the largest growth within the sector.

"With these products providing the opportunity to save space around the home, generally being lighter than their upright cousins and being bagless makes them a logical purchase for the consumer," GfK said this week.

However, with the current economic climate being somewhat uncertain, consumers may wish to shop for vacuum cleaner spares to repair their existing models.

A number of products are currently available from eSpares that could help with this, including Vax's float chamber filters, Dyson's double pack of vacuum belts and the Numatic Henry main combination floor tool.
