Consumers looking for
washing machine parts have been advised that a working appliance could be helpful following a summer camping trip.
One expert believes many people think taking soiled sleeping bags to the dry cleaners is the right thing to do, but adds that this in fact damages the fibres of the bedding.
In an article for the News Tribune, Chuck Myers states that a front-loading washing machine equipped with a cool, delicate wash setting could be the best option for camping fans.
"Set the washer on the gentle cycle in cool water and use non-detergent soap," he states, adding: "Synthetic bags can be washed in the same way."
Mr Myers also advises mild soap, but states that it in many cases it is important to run several rinse cycles to ensure all cleaning products are fully removed.
