In news that could interest those shopping for
freezer spares, a new article has suggested saving leftovers could be the answer to cutting food bills.
In a piece for the Times, environmental expert Anna Shepherd advises a number of tips for reducing grocery shopping costs and notes that it is important for consumers to "learn to love" their leftovers.
She states that one valuable area is with the Sunday roast, where she states excess meat can be saved - or frozen in the freezer - for use in a number of recipes at a later date.
"The following day, the leftovers can be turned into a stew or pie. What's left after that can be bulked out with some rice or pasta and turned into an array of exciting risottos or pasta bakes," she states.
She adds that following this, any remaining meat can be combined with lentils and made into a soup.
For those looking to boost their kitchen's performance with fridge and freezer parts, items such as the universal 15w SES fridge lamp and door handle are currently available.
