The kitchen is the first place to start an energy-efficiency drive and the washing machine is one of the key appliances, it has been advised.
By making sure a washer is both energy-efficient and fully-functional, consumers can take the first step towards making the home a greener place, an article for Suburban Journals suggests.
It is stated that along with the dishwasher and fridge-freezer, consumers should focus their attention on how their washing machine performs as a unit in good condition will significantly reduce bills as well as a home's carbon footprint.
"Since 2000, [appliances] have been designed to use much less energy," it states citing data from the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers
"Refrigerators, dishwashers and clothes washers, combined, account for a 43 per cent decrease in energy consumption since then."
The advice may prompt some to consider washing machine parts that will allow their kitchen to run more smoothly, such as the Hotpoint/Creda washing machine door hinge.
