Credit card use and kitchen appliance spares
30/06/2008
Using a credit card can be a simple and flexible way to buy or maintain home appliances, one expert has suggested.
A spokesman for Sainsbury's Credit Cards has advised that using plastic to pay for items such as white goods allows consumers to take care of necessary purchases and spread the cost more easily.
Donald MacLeod, head of cards at the group, said that consumers may be looking to spend less on buying new items such as kitchen appliances this summer, but for those who need to, a credit card could help.
"A credit card is, despite press comment to the contrary, an incredibly flexible and user-friendly way of managing your finances," he said.
"In terms of spending responsibly, if you're looking to buy something for £1000
[such as] a couple of white goods
the card gives you the flexibility."
Recent research from Sainsbury's Credit Cards revealed that 20 per cent of people anticipate spending less money than they did in the 2008 summer sales than they did last year.
With people less likely to want to spend money on a new appliance,
washing machine parts or other appliance spares could provide a more cost-effective solution.
