Fight bacteria with your dishwasher
20/06/2008
A new article has considered the bacteria fighting skills of the modern
dishwasher and advised that temperature is key.
In an article for ARAContent, KATV reports that "germ-concerned mother of two" Stacey Kannenberg, who is also an author and blogger, states that optimising the heat at which the
dishwasher performs can protect against kitchen bacteria.
The article, which highlights the importance of having a
dishwasher capable of operating at high temperatures, adds that the bathroom and kitchen are the most susceptible to germs and advises fast action to tackle such hygiene issues.
"The key is to locate the germ hot spots and tackle the germs as easily and quickly as possible," it suggests.
Ms Kannenberg adds that cleaning sponges using the dishwasher is not as effective as "zapping" it in the microwave, as this more thoroughly kills germs.
A number of dishwashers offer multiple temperature settings, including the Siemens SE26T252UK, which has five.
