Smeg teams with designer to launch colourful ovens

19/05/2008
Smeg has teamed up with a designer to combat dull kitchens, producing ovens which bring colour to the room.

At the recent EuroCucina kitchen appliance and design show in Milan Smeg showed off its new range of ovens and cooktops, which have a coloured finish, reports Cnet.com.

Mark Newson is also working with the company to develop a new line of fridges.

He told the website what makes the appliance unique "is the fact that there are a lot of things that relate to the past, materials and finishes you don't see that often in these kinds of appliances on the market.

"Also coloured appliances, but more importantly than the colour is the enamel, it's not paint. Enamel is part of the core business and history of Smeg."

Included in the colour range is pale blue, bright orange, off white and black.

The ovens also feature a touchscreen which has a read-out for the temperature and time.

Smeg has recently released a new range of compact ovens for smaller homes, which are only 45cm high.
