Some people opt for repairing over replacing

Some people would rather repair their broken appliance, than replace it with a new model, according to a new survey.
Over half of all people in the Legal and General survey said they would choose the environmentally-friendly option of fixing a broken or damaged stereo or DVD player if it stopped working.
The Changing Face of British Homes survey asked 4,000 adults about their habits and did found that the 25 to 34-year-old group were the most wasteful and opted to repair less often.
However, overall Brits need more education on repairing appliances as 12 per cent would repair an electrical appliance if the fuse had broken.
In addition, five per cent of people in Lancashire would replace an oven if it became too dirty.
The insurance firm said the cost of replacing the broken item can mount up, with it often costing more that the price paid for the old one.
Consumer Reports has recently reported that when a washing machine, fridge or oven breaks it is better to repair it than get a new model.
