Electrolux supports live-in kitchen concept

08/05/2008
Electrolux appliances have helped create what the future kitchen will look like, in a live-in room concept.

The concept formed the basis for the Live-In Room for Tomorrow $110,000 Kitchen Design Competition, whereby the room is used as a social space for eating, gathering and relaxing, in addition to cooking, reports KitchenBathDesign.

Electrolux's competition was open to designers, architects and students, who could submit their ideas for a live-in kitchen.

Jeff Jenkins came out victorious, with the concept of bringing the outdoor space into the kitchen.

The design also featured a lounge area, with sofas, and a mobile work table, to ensure flexibility of the area.

Mr Jenkins told the website: "On the other wall, we included a very functional kitchen for preparing food in an efficient way."

The designer used Electrolux's Icon appliances in the kitchen design, using a 30-inch wall oven and the series' dishwasher.

Electrolux recently released the Icon range, which is aimed at the do-it-all woman, who multi-tasks.
