Lawn mower season is upon us

Now may be an ideal time to buy a new lawn mower, ahead of the this month's bank holidays, which are ideal for getting in the garden.

The lawn takes a large part in making the garden looking tidy, according to Colin Evans, the gardening expert for BBC Berkshire.

Giving the grass a once over with the mower and strimmer can neaten up the area in an instant, with the expert saying the lazier among us can even avoid weeding borders if the lawn is trim.

He added that a new lawn mower will help create nice lines and shading and impress neighbours and friends alike.

Another way to increase the impact of the garden area is to tackle powdery mildew on trees, bushes and garden furniture.

Buying a garden fungicide can help this problem, but the use of it must be maintained throughout the year to keep the mildew at bay.

Gardeners have recently been warned to prepare their garden for a hot summer, by planting things like palms and olives.
