Electrolux struggles in recall

30/04/2008
Electrolux has received a disappointing response to its recall of dishwashers, with 11,000 still to be returned.

OF the 25,000 dishwashers needing to be returned 14,000 have been given back to the appliance manufacturer, due to data collation issues at some shops, reports Current.com.au.

Ian Forte, the Electrolux Home Products regulatory affairs manager, said: "As of last Friday, we’ve got more than 50 per cent of the products identified, which in most of these cases is fairly good, but we’re not satisfied with that."

He told the website that some individual stores had not collected the data on how many appliances were returned, so hard figures were difficult to obtain.

Mr Forte added that he hoped to have all the contact details by the end of May to endure all faulty appliances are returned.

A fire risk in the dishwashers led to them being recalled, with Electrolux sending out 7,000 engineers to check customer's appliances for safety.
