Spending money on kitchens sells

30/04/2008
Kitchens are the place to improve, when re-doing you home, according to one expert.

Putting "object of desire" into the functional room can have a real impact on the home, with the Herald Tribune adding that "kitchens and baths sell".

This ethos is behind LG's new selling campaign, naming its appliances 'items of desire', with the idea being that a consumer covets them like they would jewellery.

Items should be displayed, rather than hidden away, and placed as a focal point of the room.

LG's TurboChef wall oven, priced at $7,000 (£3,500) is one such appliance, with GQ Magazine naming it one of their "My Best Stuff" range, reports the newspaper.

The appliance uses jets of hot air to cook fast and evenly and comes in a variety of colours to fit in with any room.

Electrolux has another product which claims to appeal to both design and functionality, with luxury glide shelves which slide in and out and the touch of a finger.

Consumer Reports recently revealed that customers can save cash and own top appliances, by being selective about the features the machine has.
