Dyson tops industry review for product design

Dyson has topped an industry-wide review, giving the company's vacuum cleaner a UK product design award.

Over 27 per cent of respondents, of the survey carried our by PDM, said that the Dyson DC01 was a product which exemplified innovation in design, reports Dexigner.com.

In addition, 82 per cent said that the use of plastics helped people to achieve a high level of innovation in designs.

The website also said that Dyson makes extensive use of types of clear and coloured plastics in their designs.

Respondents to the survey also found that the product design industry is in good health, with the UK established as a leader in the market.

The DC01 vacuum cleaner was first launched in 1993.

Other products which won the awards include the Apple iMac and the Smartcar.

Dyson was recently awarded a DesignEX product of the year award at this year's indoor fittings and appliances show.
