Fridge parts shoppers offered vegetable recommendation
Those looking for new fridge and freezer spares have been advised now might be the time of year to shop for one particular vegetable.

According to the Eat The Seasons website, a resource which offers advice on how to prepare the best foods for the time of year, parsnips are a versatile option that keep well in storage.

It was advised that whether they are used for roasting or for salads, the root vegetable was great for keeping in the refrigerator.

Keeping them in an unsealed, perforated bag means they can be left in the appliance for as long as three weeks. However, the site noted they would still need to be checked.

"Whole roast parsnips are delicious accompanied by yoghurt or sour cream dip flavoured with - for example - garlic, lemon or coriander," the article added.

Traditionally served with winter dishes such as roasts, parsnips are considered a good source of vitamin C - as long as they are not overcooked.
