Trimmer Guide - How It Works
How your Trimmer functions step by step
Trimming lawn edges and cutting back weeds near stone edges woud blunt or break metal mower blades. Instead of a blade, a grass trimmer cuts grass and weeds with a short nylon line that spins at speeds of up to 10,000rpm.

When the trigger switch on the handle is squeezed, the electric motor spins the rotating head. |
| 2 |
A length of nylon line wrapped on a bobbin scythes grass and weeds as it spins and as the trimmer is swept from side to side. |

Only the section of nylon line protruding from the rotating head is used for cutting. A guard plate protects the user from injury. |

As the worn line snaps through use, a fresh length must be fed from the bobbin. Some models have an automatic feed system. |
