Fridge & Freezer Guide - Checking the Thermostat

Checking a Fridge Thermostat

Thermometer
Thermostat sensor
1 Set the thermostat to its lowest setting (usually called 'I'). Put a glass of water in the centre of the fridge for 24 hours, then check its temperature with a fridge thermometer. The temperature should be between 0°C and 5°C.
2 If the temperature is not within the safe range, make sure the thermostat sensor (a small metal tube with a thin tube running to the thermostat) is not covered with anything - spilt food for example. If it is clean, the thermostat may be faulty, so replace thermostat or contact a qualified repairer.
