Karcher K7.85 - pressure blows back into hosepipe when trigger is released

The washer works fine until trigger is released, then at the moment the spray from the lance stops, the pressure blows back into the supply hosepipe. This has caused the "Tube water intake" to split, and also pop off the casting it connects to. Is there a faulty pressure relief valve, or supply one-way-valve or similar that could cause this ? If so, which parts should I look to replace? Thanks

We would have thought that a failure in the internal valves on the cylinder head would not be able to cause this problem and we would check the water supply pressure as it may be excessive. If you are sure you do not have excessive water pressure start by replacing the cylinder head.
