My Neff hood has a metal filter, when cooking grease goes through the filter and into the motor from there it drips back down onto the rear face of the filter. Would this additional filter cure the problem?

If your hood is recycling the air instead of venting outside then it should have carbon filters attached to the motor. It would be more effective to replace these than trying to fit this filter as your appliance is not likely to be designed for this.
