How to replace a turntable motor

All products featured in this article are available at www.espares.co.uk

The rotating plate in your microwave is important for cooking food evenly. When that plate stops spinning on its own you may need to replace the motor. Here's how:

Opening motor housing Turntable motor

  1. Unplug the microwave oven from the mains, and remove the turntable and ring.
  2. Place a towel on a flat work surface, and carefully turn the microwave oven upside down. Remove the retaining screws from the motor housing and lift it off.
  3. Mark the positions of the wires with tags, unscrew the motor and replace it with an identical microwave motor for your appliance model number.
  4. Reconnect the wires as marked, and refit the motor housing and screws.
  5. Set oven upright, plug in, switch on and test motor operation is now satisfactory.
