How to Fix an E08 Error Code on a Hoover Washing Machine

When your washing machine displays an error code, it's important to know what the code means so you can identify the problem and get to work on fixing it. That's why, in this article, we're going to show you how to fix Hoover washing machine error code E08 so you can return your appliance to working order.

The E08 error code on a Hoover washing machine indicates that there is a problem with the motor and/or the motor speed sensor. If either of these parts are faulty, you'll need to replace the motor to get your washing machine up and running again.

When buying a new motor for your washing machine, it's important to know your model number to ensure you buy the correct motor for your particular appliance. The number is displayed on a sticker or data plate, usually behind the door frame or the removable kickplate panel at the bottom of the appliance. The model number may be a combination of letters and numbers and could also include characters such as a dash (-) or a slash (/). Step 1: Remove the back panel

To access the motor, you'll first need to remove the washing machine's back panel. Using your 7mm nut runner, remove the six screws that hold the back panel in place, then lift the panel away and place it aside.

You will now be able to see the motor plug and the earth wire to the left of the motor. Go ahead and disconnect both of these by hand.

Step 3: Remove the belt

Next, you will need to remove the belt that wraps around the motor spindle and pulley wheel. To do this, turn the belt as you carefully pull it towards yourself, unhooking the grooves on the belt from the grooves on the motor spindle.

Step 4: Remove the motor

Now it's time to start removing the motor. Begin this process by removing the two 10mm bolts with your 10mm socket.

At this point, it's a good idea to place a towel beneath the motor. This will protect the motor when it drops after you remove it.

The motor will still be held in place by the two pegs beneath the two bolts you removed. There are two more of these pegs holding the motor in place at the back too.

Once the motor comes free, it will drop onto the towel you have placed beneath it. You can then lift it out of the gap between the drum and the cabinet.

Now it's time to start fitting the new motor. First, line the motor up with the four pegs at the bottom of the drum.

Step 6: Refit the belt

To refit the belt, first hook it onto the bottom spindle, making sure the grooves on the belt wrap around the grooves on the spindle.

Then carefully work the rest of the belt around the pulley wheel, turning the pulley until the belt is tight and in place. When you do this, take extra care not to place your fingers behind the pulley, as this can trap them and cause injuries.

With the belt firmly back in place, you can plug the motor plug and the earth wire back into their slots to the left of the motor.

Step 8: Refit the back panel

Before refitting the back panel, make sure you have removed the towel from inside the washing machine. You can then screw the back panel into place with the six 7mm screws you removed earlier.
