Whirlpool Dishwasher Error Code F12

Dishwashers are one of those appliances in a household that are used on a regular basis, so when it breaks down it can seem like the end of the world. Now it doesn’t always have to be like that - with our knowledge you may be able to diagnose the fault and perhaps restore your dishwasher.

If your Whirlpool dishwasher is showing an F12 error code on the display it is likely there is a problem with the diverter valve, which controls the water flow to one or both dish racks.

Diverter Valve

The diverter valve is used to turn the water supply off to the upper spray arms when a half load option is selected. If the valve is jammed or the motor has failed you may get this error to alert you. It is recommended to carry out the following checks:

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

  • Remove the base and examine the diverter motor attached to the valve under the water supply tube into the cavity. If any damage or corrosion is found replace the valve or motor as required.
